5 Reasons why we resist Therapy

“Acknowledge the past and process it.”

This is easier said than done, but it is so important in order to move ahead. It may or may not involve forgiveness; as forgiveness should only occur when you feel emotionally safe and ready. Avoiding the past and burying the emotions will keep you in turmoil. This is where a counsellor can help you.

“Feel the present and embrace it.”

By now, all of us have been introduced to the topic of mindfullness. Being mindful of everything you do … from driving, to eating, to resting is truly important. However, even more important is how you embrace each new day. It is truly a new chance we are given at life. Consider a ‘normal’ day a great day – as we realize the extent of the suffering of others.

“Focus on the future and be responsible for it.”

This may be the most important message you read today! You achieve this by NOT identifying yourself by your past experiences and behaviors. Today is the day you identify yourself by the core person you are; listening to the wisdom inside of you and being empowered by that. You own your future, no one else.
