If you are anything like me, when I think about blessings, I would never think of such a thing as ‘self-blessings’. Being Christian, the only person by whom I might be blessed would be a priest, minister, etc. However, self-blessings are not only a vital part of our mission to become a better person and create a better universe, but they are also essential for most of us pursuing peace and abundance.
Positive affirmations are a means of self-blessing, just as expressing gratitude is another means of self-blessing. When you understand it from this perspective, you can see how blessing yourself is something well-advocated in the self-help world.
I don’t feel the definition of the word blessing or in what context it is used is what we need to concentrate on as much as the energy this act brings us.
The fact that the word is energy-begetting and not draining is enough reason for me to make it a daily practise.
Practising self-compassion, self-respect, self-trust, self-worth, and self-love helps me shift from negative, low-energy thoughts like anger, resentment, jealousy, or comparison to higher, joyful thoughts that raise my energy.
In a world filled with illusions, filters, and AI-altered media, constant comparisons and feelings of inadequacy surround us. We often can’t tell what’s real and what’s fake, and because it’s woven into our daily lives, we become unaware of how deeply we’re battling the ‘I’m not good enough’ story each day.
Think about it: every time you use a filter on your camera, an app to improve your writing, an anti-aging cream to reduce wrinkles, a hormone to look or feel better, or a fainting yet consistent fear that your career (a.k.a. your brain) will be one day replaced by machine learning technology, you are just reiterating the ‘I am not good enough’ self-talk.
In summary: self-blessing, self-love, and affirmations of ‘I am good enough’ are 100% necessary and highly recommended by me. You deserve love, compassion, and the achievement of your desires. If you are a bit of a martyr, like me, you might even be triggered by the word ‘deserve’, as many of us don’t feel we have the right to live an abundant, peaceful, and fulfilling life.
However, you can’t see it that way. You must instead see it as being a part of the conscious collective or Universal consciousness that we are all equal. We are individuals that make up a whole. Your brain, your machinery, needs to run well to love others well. We all benefit when we vibrate at a higher frequency energy of joy, love, peace, and abundance.
So yes, you deserve the self-blessings of “I am loving”, “I am beautiful”, “I am compassionate”, etc., and you should do them daily so that these thoughts fill your mind.
Because it is moment by moment that makes up our days, our weeks, our years, our lives.
