Often, I hear the terms “lucky” and “blessed” used interchangeably, but they are not the same. To be lucky is a matter of happenstance, while to be blessed involves much more than mere chance. I understand that not everyone reading this will agree, and that’s okay.
As someone in the second part of my life, I can look back at my experiences and see how they played out for different reasons. It wasn’t by chance. Everything, from the assets that enrich my life to times of great sorrow (like losing two brothers in separate car accidents), has a purpose.
I realize that saying this might be triggering for some. Many people feel they don’t deserve the suffering that has come to them or their loved ones. I agree that no one deserves suffering, but it’s this perspective that can lead to bitterness.
If you are bitter about your suffering, try to realize that life is not meant to be only joyful. We are not in the Garden of Eden; we are on Earth.
To say someone is lucky implies there is no course or plan for our existence. It suggests there is no creator, no higher power, and ultimately no purpose. If that’s not depressing, I don’t know what is.
If someone told me there is nothing after death, I honestly don’t know how I would live my life.
To me, everything I have is because I am blessed. Nothing is my own doing. If I have done good things, it’s because I am following my faith and living according to God’s will for me. Every thought, every idea, and every craft I create is through His works.
But it’s not a one-way street. I am not a puppet on a string. I choose to work with God. I constantly ask and pray for His guidance and have daily conversations with Him. I cannot imagine not having this lifeline, this clarity, and this wisdom if it were anything but through Him.
When working with individuals, I do my best to remind them they are never alone. Because God created and loves them deeply, they do not need to worry or be anxious about their destiny. Instead, I try to help them restore their trust in God’s Divine workings.
Many people have moved away from the church and its teachings, and in doing so, have become very lost. The teachings and scriptures are not fairytales that begin with “Once upon a time, long, long ago…” No, the scriptures are acts, deeds, and real occurrences that were witnessed and then written about. They are not made-up stories.
Some of you may agree but do not see yourselves as religious but spiritual. To me, those terms are the same. If you are spiritual, correct me if I am wrong by commenting on the blog, but you experience enlightenment through Universal energies. How and where do these energies come to you? By chance? Perhaps you don’t believe in a Creator as I do, but feelings are emotions in motion. Motion might be explained in scientific terms and formulas, but what gave birth to the intellect that delivered the scientific terms?
In summary, this post is not meant to convert you or change how you feel about your faith or lack thereof. Instead, it is meant to give you hope and trust that you will be okay no matter what simply because you are loved and your existence has purpose and meaning. Nothing I stated above has anything to do with luck.
