One of the most common statements I hear from my couples is, “Our lives became so busy, and we drifted apart.”

People are often so busy getting everything done that they don’t give enough attention to their partners. When this happens, they lose focus on what is important to them. Having deeper conversations allows individuals to become more intentional about their relationships. It also allows the couple to zoom out and look at the bigger picture rather than focus on all the so-called ‘annoyances’.

If you did complete the Reset Questionnaire, discuss each other’s top 5 values and why.

What this does: It reminds you to live according to YOUR VALUES and the expectations of others. It reminds you of your beliefs and the importance of aligning YOUR ACTIONS with these goals.

Below is a list of additional questions to better understand your partner and yourself.

  • Define spirituality. What does being spiritual mean? How do you differentiate spirituality and religion?
  • What is your favourite song or band, and why? Was there a particular song? What do you like about it? What does this music remind you of?
  • If you had infinite funds to donate to a cause, what cause would that be?
  • Do you believe in miracles, and why or why not?
  • What is your most nostalgic memory from childhood?
  • What is your purpose for working? Is it to obtain wealth? Status? Is it for your children? If it’s for children, why?
  • What was your most embarrassing moment and why?
  • Who is your closest friend, and why?
  • What is your favourite childhood meal?
  • If you could stop one habit – what would it be? If you could start one habit – what would it be?
  • What would you do with money if money wasn’t an obstacle?
  • Which one of your friends do you admire the most and why?
  • What is my least endearing trait? (only if you are ready for that answer☺️)
  • What is my most endearing trait?

In summary, completing this exercise will help you better understand your partner and, perhaps even more importantly, yourself and what you need in a relationship.

*Do this when you plan a longer walk together in nature or out for a lovely dinner (copy and paste the questions onto your phone). You want the context to be peaceful and calm.
