Anne Thériault is a young, talented Canadian essayist and journalist who took it upon herself to research the history of the treatment of those struggling with emotional health. This curiosity led her to a small town in Belgium, named Geel, where she discovered that at one time, individuals were treated with utmost care and compassion.
Despite national efforts towards speaking openly about emotional health – our Canadian medical system needs a lot more tuning in and education towards making those affected by emotional health feel better understood and taken care of once admitted into the system.
